Getting Started

Welcome to Roadmap Monster! Here's how to get started:

Create a Project: Click the "New project" button in the sidebar or select a template when prompted
Choose Duration: Select your project timeline (1-12 months) when creating from a template
Add Tasks: Go to the Project view and use the "Add Task" form to create your own tasks
Organize: Customize stream labels to match your workflow
Save: Use "Save to browser cache" to auto-save, or export as JSON for backups

Quick Reference: Gantt Chart

Interact with tasks:

📍 Drag bar: Move task to different dates
↔️ Drag left edge: Change start date
↔️ Drag right edge: Change end date
⬜ Colored bar: Task body (stream color)
🔴 Dot on bar: RAG status indicator
📏 Grid lines: Weekly (≤6 months) or fortnightly (>6 months)
🔴 Red line: Today's date

Key Features

📋 Task Management:

Create, edit, and delete tasks with full control over dates, complexity, RAG status, and streams.

� Milestones:

Mark key deliverables as milestones (shown as diamonds at the bottom of the chart). Toggle milestone visibility using the filter button.

📊 Reportable Tasks:

Control which tasks appear in reports using the reportable flag. Hide internal/support tasks from stakeholder reports with one click.

�🎨 Customization:

Rename stream labels to match your organization's terminology and workflow.

📊 Baseline Tracking:

Set a baseline snapshot of your plan and compare against current actuals.

💾 Data Persistence:

Auto-save to browser cache or export/import JSON files for sharing and backups.

Milestones & Reporting

Milestones: Mark critical delivery points in your project.

💎 Create: Check "Milestone" when adding/editing a task
📍 Visualize: Milestones appear as colored diamonds in a dedicated section below tasks
👁️ Toggle: Use the milestone filter button to show/hide all milestones at once

Reportable Tasks: Control which tasks appear in stakeholder reports (enabled by default).

✓ Default: All tasks are reportable unless explicitly marked otherwise
🔒 Hide Internal: Uncheck "Reportable" for internal/support tasks
📊 Filter: Use the "Show All" button to toggle between reportable-only and all tasks

Stream Colors

Organize tasks by workflow phase using the six available streams (customizable):

Grey: Initiate

Blue: Plan

Purple: Design

Green: Build

Teal: Test

Orange: Deploy

RAG Status Indicators

Track health status using color-coded dots on task bars:

Green: On track

Amber: At risk

Red: Off track

Tips & Tricks

💡 Baseline: Set a baseline early to track schedule changes over time
💡 Templates: Start with a template to save time—adjust dates and details as needed
💡 Durations: When creating templates, choose a duration that matches your project scope
💡 Scale: The Gantt view automatically switches to fortnightly grid for projects >6 months
💡 Dashboard Font & Bar: Customize the dashboard Gantt display in Preferences—adjust font size (Small/Large/Largest) and bar height (14-28px) for your preferred readability
💡 Embed Milestones: Toggle the "Embed milestones" preference to display milestones inline with tasks or in a separate section below
💡 Export: Regularly export your project as JSON for backup and sharing
💡 Dashboard: Use Dashboard view for a focused, clean presentation of critical path
